Multiple People Shot at Howe Community Park Sacramento — Large Unauthorized Party Erupts in Gunfire
On Saturday evening, an unlawful gathering of several hundred people at Howe Community Park in Sacramento in Sacramento's Arden-Arcade area ended in a shooting when upwards of 20 gunshots were fired as Sacramento County Sheriff's Deputies were actively breaking up the gathering.
How Events Unfolded
Just after 6:30 PM, the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office received calls reporting individuals possibly carrying concealed weapons at the Arden-Arcade park. A second report mentioned a possible altercation and people running from the area.
Aerial units was dispatched and swept the area but could not find the reported fight.
Despite this, an estimated several hundred attendees had assembled at the location for what the sheriff's office identified as an unsanctioned event. Law enforcement personnel set up around the park, turned on their emergency lights, and dedicated around 15 minutes commanding the crowd to clear out over their vehicle speakers.
While deputies were dispersing the crowd, 20 to 25 gunshots filled the night air — triggering a panicked crowd in every direction.
Victims of the Shooting
Four individuals — one female and three males, all believed to be in their 20s — were rushed to local hospitals. Two victims had injuries classified as immediate, one with moderate injuries, and one victim sustained minor injuries. All four were reported in stable condition. Sacramento Metro Fire responded to the scene and triaged victims at the park.
The Investigation Scene
The crime scene was located on the Cottage Way side of the park near the Home Depot store at the 2200 block of Howe Ave. The Home Depot store was placed under temporary website lockdown. Through scanner communications, it was indicated that a vehicle of interest — described as a Kia vehicle — was intercepted in Solano County with four individuals detained. Sacramento County Sheriff's Office units were sent to transport the suspects back and return them to Sacramento County for questioning. Video analysis confirmed two separate shooters.
