Four Victims Wounded at Howe Park - Unauthorized Gathering Ends in Shooting
On April 18 2026, a large unauthorized party of an estimated several hundred individuals at Howe Community Park in Sacramento in Sacramento County's Arden-Arcade neighborhood erupted in gunfire when between 20 and 25 shots filled the air as Sacramento County law enforcement were in the process of clearing the area.
A Timeline of Events
At approximately 6:30 PM, the Sacramento County law enforcement was alerted involving individuals possibly carrying concealed weapons at the Arden-Arcade park. An additional caller mentioned a reported fight and subjects running away.
Air support was dispatched and scanned the park but was unable to locate any physical confrontation.
At the same time, hundreds of individuals had collected at the park for what authorities described as an unauthorized gathering. Officers formed a perimeter around the park, illuminated the area with emergency lights, and gave the crowd approximately 15 minutes commanding the crowd to clear out through their vehicle PA systems.
As law enforcement was clearing the area, upwards of 20 gunshots were fired — sending the crowd scattering in all directions.
Shooting Victims
Four individuals — a female and three male victims, all in their 20s — were taken to nearby website hospitals. Two were treated for immediate injuries, one sustained moderate injuries, and one had minor injuries. All four victims were stable. The Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District responded to the scene and triaged victims on scene.
At the Scene
Gunfire originated from the Cottage Way side of the park adjacent to the Home Depot at the 2200 block click here of Howe Avenue. The Home Depot store was briefly placed on lockdown. Additional shell here casings were located on Cottage Way, with rounds lodged found in the iron fence surrounding the Home Depot — indicating rounds fired in a southerly direction from Cottage Way toward the store. Crime scene investigators and detectives investigated the scene through the night.
What We Know About Suspects
Over scanner traffic, it was confirmed that a related suspect vehicle — identified as a Kia — was pulled over in the Solano County area with four occupants detained. Sacramento click here County Sheriff's units were heading to Solano County to pick up the suspects and return them to Sacramento. Video analysis confirmed two separate shooters.
